Choosing Your Level

200 Hours or 300 Hours? Choosing the Right Yoga Trainer Training Level

Once you have decided on yoga trainer training, the first question is usually: "Which level should I start with?" In this post, we look at the points you can consider when choosing between training levels.

Foundation Level: The First Step

Foundation-level programs, designed for those new to yoga trainer training, cover the basics of yoga philosophy, the main postures, breathing techniques and essential teaching skills. This level gives a solid footing both to those who want to deepen their own practice and to trainer candidates who are about to start teaching.

Advanced Level: Going Deeper

Advanced-level programs, offered to those who have completed the foundation level, include a deeper study of the classical texts, advanced postures and breathing techniques, broader anatomy knowledge and more developed lesson-planning skills. This level is a common choice for trainers who already teach and want to take their knowledge and skills up a step.

Integrated Program: Taking Both Together

Some institutions combine the foundation and advanced levels in a single comprehensive program. This option can be a practical route for candidates who want to fit their schedule into one process and aim for a more comprehensive training from the start.

What Should You Look at When Choosing?

  • Your current yoga experience and your goals (personal development or teaching professionally?)
  • The time you can set aside and the format you prefer (online, weekend, camp/retreat)
  • Which groups you would like to teach in the future (general adult groups, special populations, advanced practitioners)

Your budget and how well the training schedule fits your daily life
